Irish Water engineer provides update on Glenamaddy Boil Water notice issue

Around 800 people are affected by the Boil Water notice which was issued on Thursday afternoon.

An engineer with Irish Water says they hope to have normal supply resumed to households in Glenamaddy in a short time.

It follows the issuing of a boil water notice on the supply yesterday evening.

The notice was put in place due to issues with ultraviolet disinfection but engineering lead Tim O' Connor says the raw water in the spring source had been deteriorating in recent weeks.

The engineer says the water problems could be as a result of long dry spells followed by intense rain.

He says work on an improved filtration system had been due to begin next week, and that should help bring the water back to an acceptable standard soon…
