Irish peacekeepers return home from deployment

Their time overseas saw multiple escalations in conflict, along with attacks by the Israeli Defence Forces in the area.

187 troops arrived home this morning after a six month deployment to Lebanon.

Soldiers from the 126th Infantry Battalion, which includes those based in Athlone, landed in Dublin Airport to a crowd of hundreds of family members and friends welcoming them home.

Their time overseas saw multiple escalations in conflict, along with attacks by the Israeli Defence Forces in the area.

Lieutenant Colonel Edward McDonagh, the Commanding Officer of the 126th Infantry Battalion, says that didn't have too much of a negative impact on morale:
