The HSE has rejected a plan to buy a new building in Roscommon town to cater for young people with mental health issues.
The current premises is nearly full.
There's a Child and Adolescent Mental Service community-based team in Roscommon town, serving Co Roscommon and east Galway.
It accepts referrals for children and adolescents with moderate to severe mental health problems.
The service is close to full capacity in its current accommodation in Roscommon town.
Roscommon CAMHS presented a business case to the HSE's property review group to buy and refurbish a new premises in the town.
But this was rejected.
The review group felt it would make more financial sense to invest funding into assets the HSE already owns on the Sacred Heart Hospital campus on the Golf Links Road.
The plan now is to seek funding to develop a CAMHS facility there instead.
