The first case was detected on the island today

The Public Health Agency in the North says the first case of monkeypox wasn't unexpected.

The island has detected a case of the virus for the first time, as it continues to spread across Europe.

Local multidisciplinary incident management teams have been assembled to ensure they are fully prepared for any potential risk.
