The Carrick-on-Shannon bypass was just one of the projects included in yesterday's National Development Plan announcement.
1.3 million euro was previously allocated towards the project earlier this year by Minister for Transport.
When completed, it will involve a 6-kilometre bypass of Carrick, from the Dublin Road to the Boyle Road in both directions.

It is expected that it will cost between 500 million and one billion euro, with construction set to commence after 2030.
