A local councillor is calling for holiday rentals to be protected in Co Leitrim.
It comes as the housing charity Threshold reveals short-term holiday lets outnumber private rental homes by 4 to 1 nationwide.
It found 87 are available on Airbnb in Co Leitrim - but just seven are available to rent on Daft.ie.
That's a ratio of 12 to 1.
The ratio is lower in other Shannonside counties, at 3 to 1 in Roscommon and 1.2 to 1 in Longford.
Threshold is now calling for more robust enforcement from the government to protect existing homes for long-term use.
