Health Minister urged to intervene and reopen local chapel

The chapel in a local State-run nursing home been closed for two years due to the fire safety concerns.

The Minister for Health has been urged to intervene and reopen a chapel in the Sacred Heart Hospital in Roscommon town. It follows news this week that it won't open for at least another 18 months. The chapel in the State-run nursing home been closed for two years due to the fire safety concerns. Cllr Marty McDermott brought forward a motion at this month's Roscommon County Council meeting calling on the local authority to write to Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill and the HSE. Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice, however, criticised the HSE, saying they've been 'no friends to County Roscommon':
