A new surgical hub in Sligo will help reduce waiting times and safeguard treatment for patients in the region.
That's according to Health Minister Jennifer MacNeill who was at Sligo University Hospital today to support two proposed developments for the northwest.
A new stand-alone two-theatre surgical hub will be constructed close to the hospital while a further hub will be developed in Letterkenny.
The project at Letterkenny University Hospital will also include an expansion of oncology services.
Both developments will now proceed to planning.
