A local Fianna Fáil Councillor has defended the Government's handling of the Mercosur Trade Deal.
It comes following criticism from opposition parties who say Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have betrayed farmers.
The deal, expected to be signed later this month, was backed by EU member states last Friday.
It will open European markets up to a hundred thousand tonnes of South American beef.
Ireland voted No to the deal but the Government was accused of bowing to public pressure.
