Government urged to provide funding for unfinished estates in Co. Roscommon

Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice raised the issue at today’s meeting of Roscommon County Council.

The Government has been urged to provide funding for unfinished estates in County Roscommon. Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice raised the issue at today’s meeting of Roscommon County Council. It followed a presentation of the local authority’s annual financial statement by Director of Services Sean Mullarkey.

Chief Executive Shane Tiernan revealed one estate could cost the council up to a quarter of a million euro. Mr Mullarkey told members that expenditure on unfinished housing can’t be recouped from central Government. Cllr Fitzmaurice says this is unacceptable and puts financial pressure on local authorities:

Cllr John Keogh says the Government should also provide funding for outdated sewage systems in some estates that have no proper connection:
