A Leitrim councillor is welcoming a major policy shake-up which will allow more people to build homes on their own land.
Housing Minister James Browne said the government will 'liberalise' rules around one-off housing for rural people who find it 'impossible' to live in their areas due to planning constraints.
The changes will be brought in by the summer, while facing opposition from the Labour and Green Party over potential environmental impacts and car dependency concerns.
