A violent disorder investigation is under way after a number of people became involved in a fight in Roscommon town overnight.
Gardai say the incident happened on Circular Road.
A spokesman added: "The incident occurred at approximately 3:15am where a number of people had gathered and became involved in a physical dispute.
"A male, aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene under the Public Order Act, and charged to appear before Roscommon District Court at a future date.
"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident and to any persons who recorded this incident on their mobile phone to come forward.
"Gardaí are also appealing to any road user travelling in the vicinity of Circular Road between approximately 2:45am and 3:30am, who may have dash-cam footage, to make this available to them.
