Gardaí not ruling out natural causes in Granard investigation

The bodies of Paul and Morag Kavanagh were discovered on Saturday evening at their residence in Granard.

Gardaí investigating the death of an elderly couple in Longford are not ruling out death by natural causes.

The bodies of Paul and Morag Kavanagh were discovered on Saturday evening at their residence in Granard. Gardaí are not treating the incident as a criminal investigation and have confirmed that a file is set to be prepared for the Coroner's Court. It has been widely suspected that the couple died as a result of Carbon Monoxide poisoning, however, local Gardaí have confirmed they are looking at all possibilities.

Journalist with the Irish Independent, Liam Cosgrove, says the results of the postmortem will determine the course of the investigation.
