There are further concerns over the level of Garda personnel in local divisions. Figures published in the latest allocation from Templemore show the north west region, which includes Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon has yet again, received the lowest number of new officers.
Of the 154 attested as members on Friday, only 21 have been stationed locally. Local Senator, Gareth Scahill says in a time of increased criminal activity, greater numbers are needed on the ground:
