There are calls for a minor injury unit and dialysis service to be developed in Longford town. Two local Fine Gael politicians say the existing St Joseph's site in the town could be used for the project. Deputy Micheál Carrigy and Cllr Peggy Nolan want an expanded consultant-led medical campus. Cllr Nolan says patients are currently being forced to travel long distances for healthcare:
