Fundraising appeal raises over €20,000 to help with woman's funeral, as Athlone murder probe continues

Over €20,000 has been raised through a GoFundMe appeal to help cover the funeral expenses of a woman found dead in south Roscommon.

A murder investigation is continuing after 58-year-old Mirjana Pap was found dead in a field near Taughmaconnell on Monday.

She vanished from her home in Beechville, Athlone, around 60 hours earlier.

She's from Croatia but had lived in Athlone for over 20 years and has three children.

Roscommon senator Eugene Murphy has been expressing his condolences.
