Funding has been announced for an extension to a Carrick on Shannon primary school.
The funding will be used for the extension of two mainstream classrooms at Scoil Mhuire National School.
The national school’s pupil numbers have almost doubled in the past 10 years, with around 500 enrolled now.

Local TD Frank Feighan says whilst the proposed extension is good news, a new school building is still needed:
