Frustration has been expressed locally after Longford has missed out on being one of the five newly established Family Life Centres. As part of the expansion of the Túsla National Programme for 2025, Dublin, Monaghan, Louth, Kildare and Galway are to benefit.
There are currently two Family Resource Centres in the county, one in Ballymahon and the other in Granard, with The Attic House in the town identified as a proposed location. Local Fine Gael TD Micheál Carrigy says there's an urgent need for a facility:
