Fresh calls for ban on drinking in Carrick-on-Shannon streets

There are new calls for a controversial ban on drinking on the streets of Carrick-on-Shannon.

Members of Leitrim's Joint Policing Committee considered the proposal a number of years ago, to clamp down on incidents linked to the night-time economy. But the plan didn't go ahead because community CCTV was being implemented and went live in 2019. But Green Party local elections candidate, Leslie O'Hora, says the bylaw is needed and exists in many other towns, like Longford and Sligo.
