Flood action group welcomes progress on €26m scheme for Carrick

It’s designed to prevent a repeat of devastating flooding in 2009 and 2015.

Significant progress on a long-awaited flood-relief scheme for Carrick-on-Shannon, is being welcomed. The 26-million-euro project will involve flood walls, embankments, and other defence measures in Carrick and Cortober. It’s designed to prevent a repeat of devastating flooding in 2009 and 2015.

Leitrim County Council chief executive, Joseph Gilhooly, says the project will go to planning next year. Liam Farrell, from the Carrick Flood Action Group, says it’s welcome:
