A Lanesborough nursing home has moved to reassure people that all best practice is being followed after five of its residents tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement to Shannonside Northernsound, the providers Sarah and Shay Costello say the results emerged following routine serial testing.
All next-of-kin of residents at Costello's Care Centre in Lanesborough have been informed and are being updated regularly about the condition of their loved ones.
The nursing home is working with a team of health care experts including public health experts, infection control specialists and a consultant in care of older persons.
Mr and Mrs Costello say they are fully staffed and have a plentiful and continuous supply of PPE and equipment needed for the comfort of their residents.
They have also described the leadership and direction they are receiving from the HSE as robust and reassuring.
In the statement they say they are doing everything possible to ensure the ongoing care and safety of residents and staff with best practice, policy and procedures being followed.
