A new temporary replacement garda has been allocated to Co Longford and is due to take up the position next week.
That's according to local TD Micheál Carrigy, who has praised the response of Gardaí following a double stabbing in Longford Town last Monday.
He says Gardaí in the county are adequately resourced but that a significant amount of their time is taken up in court, where he claims cases could be dealt with more swiftly.
Last week's meeting of Longford County Council revealed nine officers have left Longford since December, and only two have been replaced.
