Fine Gael accused of U-turn as McDonagh withdraws from housing role

The Government's handling of the nomination of Brendan McDonagh as housing tsar is being branded "shambolic."

The Taoiseach has denied Fine Gael “blocked” the Nama Chief's appointment as CEO of the new Housing Activation Office.

Brendan McDonagh decided to pull out of the running for the role amid controversy over a reported 430 thousand euro salary.

Labour TD Conor Sheehan says Fine Gael has done a U-turn.
