An overall additional €170 million has been secured for the Department of Agriculture, bringing it's total vote to over €2.3 billion.

Fears have been allayed that an allocation of funding will be made to the beef welfare scheme. An overall additional €170 million has been secured for the Department of Agriculture, bringing it's total vote to over €2.3 billion.

It was previously only announced that the sheep would be in receipt of funding. However, Connacht IFA Chairperson, Brendan Golden has confirmed funding will be on the way for the sector:
