A second family has been forced to leave their home on the shores of Lough Funshinagh in south Roscommon.

Video footage shared online shows Edward Beattie and his wife Teresa who have lived in the Rahara area for decades, had to move out of their home due to rising floodwaters.

Neighbours helped them move items from their home as County Council and OPW sourced pumps tried to draw water away from their home.

The O'Meara's were also forced to leave their home last month due to rising floodwaters in the area- which it is expected will exceed records previously broken in 2016.

Last week the Minister for the OPW urged Roscommon County Council to begin the planning process for an engineered solution to the flooding in the area after an appeal by the head of the local authority for the OPW and other state agencies to intervene in the area.
