Every St. Patrick's Day parade happening in your area

Communities have been busy adding finishing touches to their floats, with over a hundred set to drive through the streets of Longford, Roscommon, and Leitrim throughout the day.

Communities have been busy adding finishing touches to their floats, with over a hundred set to drive through the streets of Longford, Roscommon, and Leitrim throughout the day.
Here is a list of all the parades in your area.

Longford

Longford Town

  • Starting at 1pm.
  • Parade will include over 40 floats and entries from local communities.
  • Theme: Amuigh Faoin Spéir — “Out in the Open”
  • Route: Connolly Barracks → Main Street → Dublin Street → New Street → Ballymahon Street → Killashee Street (Aldi)
  • Accessibility: Sensory viewing area on Bridge Street; wheelchair viewing at Centenary Square
  • Prizegiving: Temperance Hall, 2pm
  • Road Closure Time: 12pm – 7pm (Roads may reopen earlier when deemed safe.)
  • Roads Closed: Battery Rd (Demesne Roundabout) ➜ Killashee St.
  • There will be no parking on Dublin Street, Ballymahon Street or Church Street from 1pm on St. Patrick’s Day.

Lanesboro/Ballyleague

  • Starting at 2:30pm.
  • The St Patrick’s Day celebration will open with the traditional St Patrick’s Day Mass in Lanesboro Church at 11 am.
  • Mass will include traditional musicians, the Parish Choir, and champion Irish dancers.

Ballymahon

  • Starting at 4pm.
  • Theme: ‘Our Story’ spotlighting local schools, parishes, GAA clubs, and community organisations. It highlights personal and collective narratives through floats, music, and displays in this town.
  • 40+ floats expected.

Roscommon

Glenamaddy

  • Starting at 12:30pm.
  • Glenamaddy Community School to lead the parade, with the Girls All-Ireland soccer champions.

Lecarrow

  • Starting at 1pm.
  • Parking available at St John’s Community Centre only or along the Ballybrogan Road or main N61 road.
  • No parking available at Lecarrow Harbour or on the road to the soccer pitch (formerly the Yew Tree).
  • Route: from St John’s Vintage Club to Lecarrow Harbour car park, where there will be children’s activities and refreshments.

Athleague

  • Athleague's first ever St Patrick's Day parade will be starting at 1pm.
  • Parade to set off from Ollie Harte’s butcher shop and proceed to Hamrock’s Corner.

Ballaghaderreen

  • Starting at 2:30pm.
  • Route starts from the Sligo Road.
  • Theme: “From A Little Acorn Grew A Mighty Oak – The Story of Ballaghaderreen.”
  • Silent Section (sensory area) running from Topside Meats/J Mulligan’s to the Garda Station. Participants are asked to stop all noise in this area, including music, instruments, sirens, horns, singing and shouting, while continuing to smile, wave and dance in silence.

Ballintubber

  • Starting at 3pm at the main crossroads.
  • Entertainment for all ages, including Disney characters, Bozo the Clown, food stalls, face-painting, amusements, cake sales and entertainment throughout the village. Entertainment will also take place in local bars – Kenny’s and Garvey’s.

Boyle

  • Starting at 3:30pm.
  • Route: starting from Carty’s garage, to the viewing stand at The Crescent.
  • DJ Stan playing from 3pm to 5pm.

Elphin

  • Starting at 5pm, preceded by music from Carmel McLoughlin from 4-5pm.
  • Theme is “International Cultural Traditional Dance.”
  • Parade assembles at Abbey NS on Palace Road to church car park and then returns to podium stand.
  • Free face-painting for children available from 4pm to 6pm behind the stand.

 

Leitrim

Aughavas

  • Starting at 12:30 pm.
  • The parade is followed by kids’ entertainment and live music at The Dugout for continued family fun.

Carrick-on-Shannon

  • Starting at 1pm.
  • Marking success as Ireland’s Tidiest Town in the SuperValu TidyTowns Competition.
  • Parade to be broadcast by RTÉ.

Fenagh 

  • Starting at 2pm.
  • Follows a family fun day from 11:00 am, combining activities and the parade for all ages.

Keshcarrigan

  • Starting at 2:30pm.
  • Theme: “Heritage,” celebrating local history and traditions through creative entries, on account of the village winning an all-Ireland Heritage Award 2025 for their Sheebeg Excavation entry.
  • Parade led by village’s own local pipe band, Kiltubrid Pipe Band.

Leitrim Village

  • Starting at 3pm.
  • Features music from Wallop the Spot, adding lively tunes to the community procession.

Ballinamore

  • Starting at 4pm.
  • Entertainment before and after the parade.

Dromahair 

  • Starting at 4 pm, pre-parade party from 3pm.
  • Themed “Creatures Great and Small,” with whimsical, animal-inspired floats and pre-event festivities.
  • There will also be a ceili at The Clubhouse at 5pm.

Drumshanbo

  • Starting at 4pm.
  • Showcases local community groups and sports clubs.

Mohill 

  • Starting at 4pm.
  • Followed by light refreshments and children’s entertainment for a welcoming close.

 

Cloone

  • Starting at 5pm.
  • The village’s first-ever Saint Patrick’s Day parade, a milestone community celebration to bring everyone together.
