300 international contractors from the UK, Austria, Finland and the Netherlands have arrived in Ireland this week following Storm Éowyn.

ESB Networks have issued an urgent appeal for accommodation in the Shannonside region for engineers arriving to help with power restoration efforts. 300 international contractors from the UK, Austria, Finland and the Netherlands have arrived in Ireland this week following Storm Éowyn. The unprecedented storm plunged tens of thousands of premises into darkness with around 10,000 faults currently affecting over 120,000 households. As contractors arrive in the west, however, one of the most pressing challenges is finding accommodation this Bank Holiday Weekend.

Senator Aisling Dolan and other Oireachtas members met with ESB Networks management this week and called for more crews to be sent to the region. Speaking to Shannonside News, she said the workers would need somewhere to stay while working here. Those with accommodation are asked to contact [email protected].
