Some environmental concerns have been raised in relation to a potential wind farm in Co. Roscommon. County Planners requested further information from Ballyfeeney Green Energy last month after they applied for permission to build six turbines between Scramogue and Kilglass.
A decision on the controversial wind farm was due in December however Roscommon County Council sought more information from the developers - which has stalled the planning process. The council have now outlined some concerns they have with the proposed development. In a report issued to the developer, they say there's a confirmed nest site for an identified Bird of Prey otherwise known as raptor species, in close proximity to three proposed turbines.
County planners have asked to be provided with further analysis of the potential for disturbance and displacement effects on the species. The council are also seeking further information regarding the visual and artificial lighting impact the development would pose. Over 150 people have already objected to the development going ahead.
