Emergency Departments in hospitals across the Shannonside region are under significant pressure today.
The ED at Sligo University Hospital is the fourth busiest in the country today with 35 people waiting for a bed. Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe currently has 21 people waiting for a bed whilst the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar has 20 people on trolleys today. Nationally, 526 patients are waiting on hospital trolleys this morning.
Almost a fifth of today's patients are waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick.
