A woman in her 90s has died following a road crash in Athlone town centre this afternoon.
The car the woman was driving was in collision with the front of a shop on John Broderick Street, before subsequently colliding with a tree
Gardaí are believed to investigating the possibility the woman may have fallen ill while driving before the crashes.

The area near the Golden Island Shopping Centre has been sealed off and diversions are in place.
