Plans for a new school building in Carrick-on-Shannon will take a significant step forward today, according to a Fine Gael TD.
Councillors are due to sign off on the new Local Area Plan for Carrick.
A site will be zoned at Summerhill for a new building for Scoil Mhuire.
The national school is overcrowded after a sharp rise in pupil numbers and is based in two separate locations.
