The sale of new electric cars in the Shannonside region has decreased by more than a quarter this year. 59 were registered in Roscommon between January and May this year - compared to 82 in the same period in 2023.
That drop of 28 per cent compares to a 27.8 per cent decrease in Leitrim, and 26.2 per cent drop in Longford. Brian Cooke, the director general of the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, says there was a 22 per cent decrease throughout the country during that period:
