The Dáil will hear today Sinn Féin's opposition to the proposed Mercusor agreement, with the party's agriculture spokesman, Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny, leading charge.
If passed, the deal would see beef and poultry enter the EU at a much reduced tariff rate.
Next month, the European Council will decide whether to back it.
The government has said they are against the agreement, which, if passed, could see beef prices could fall by up to 45 per cent in five years.
