Counting will get underway this morning in the Presidential Election.
Ireland took to the polls yesterday to elect its 10th president.
The votes are in and there is now a winner of the 2025 presidential election contained in ballot boxes across the country.
The turnout may have been low yesterday but that doesn't matter today - because those who did use their voice have made a decision.
Boxes will be opened across the country at 9am as count centre staff sort the votes ahead of the first count.
Polls indicate it will be a landslide victory for the independent candidate Catherine Connolly and, if that's the case tallies, should give us an idea of the picture by mid morning.
Though Heather Humphreys will be hoping a quiet vote showed up and Jim Gavin may also poll better than expected.
Catherine Connolly may be elected on the first count, which isn't expected until 6 or 7pm this evening.
All count centres across the country will feed into a national results hub in Dublin Castle where at some point this evening, Ireland will have a new president-elect.
