Councillor hopes boil water notice for 4,400 Castlerea customers is 'short-term'

Uisce Éireann has issued the notice to protect the health of 4,400 customers who are serviced by Castlerea Public Water Supply.

A local councillor is hoping a Boil Water Notice issued to over 4,000 customers in Castlerea is a 'short-term fault.'
Uisce Éireann has issued the notice to protect the health of 4,400 customers who are serviced by Castlerea Public Water Supply.

Recent heavy rainfall has caused increased turbidity, which has impacted the treatment process at the Longford Springs plant.
This means water deriving from the supply may appear cloudy or discoloured.
Drinking water experts are advising customers to boil water before use until further notice.
Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council Paschal Fitzmaurice hopes water services will not be impacted if wet and windy conditions persist across the region in the coming days:
