Councillor calls for better communication when accommodating refugees

The Fine Gael councillor said an information vaccuum would only lead to rumour and innuendo.

A local county councillor says clear communication is crucial when it comes to accommodation for refugees.
Cllr Peggy Nolan said public representatives need to be kept informed on behalf of the local residents they represent.

It comes as Longford Cathaoirleach Colm Murray updated members on plans to accommodate 20 refugees in Ballymahon earlier this week.
Speaking to Shannonside News, Cllr Nolan said this was the right way to go in order to avoid the spread of rumour and fear:
