Cllr Marty McDermott requested further information regarding the application towards the end of yesterday's meeting.

Concerns around proposed asylum-seeker accommodation in Roscommon town were raised at yesterday's meeting of the local authority.

It follows an application by Noel Whelan for an exemption to accommodate refugees at a property on Goff Street in the town.

Cllr Marty McDermott requested further information regarding the application towards the end of yesterday's meeting.

In response, Director of Services Mark Keaveney confirmed the local authority had determined that the property was not exempt.

He said the applicant has since referred the decision to An Bord Pleanala and the local authority awaits their decision.
