Two gardai who are facing a number of corruption-linked charges in the Shannonside region have had their cases adjourned at Longford Circuit Court.
The cases were listed for arraignment today, but now won't proceed until May.
At a sitting of Longford District Court last August, 42-year-old Garda Brian Carroll, with an address at Ballinaboy, Kilteevan, Co Roscommon, was charged with two offences.
He was charged with disclosing confidential information in Longford town in September 2021, and with attempting to pervert the course of justice by damaging his mobile phone during the lawful search of his home in March 2022.
47-year-old Sergeant James Muldowney, of Greenville, Calta, Ballinasloe, Co Galway, was charged with stealing cash from a property in Ardnacassa, Longford, in September 2021.
He was also charged with attempting to obstruct the course of justice during an incident in Lanesboro Street, Roscommon town, in January 2024.
The case was listed for arraignment today at Longford Circuit Court, in front of Judge Jonathan Dunphy.
But barrister Niall Flynn, representing both accused, said he was not in a position to progress matters this morning.
He said Garda Carroll was present in court and Sergeant Muldowney had been excused from attending.
He said both are serving members of An Garda Siochana.
They are attached to Mayo/Roscommon/Longford Garda Division.
Judge Dunphy adjourned the case until May 19th for arraignment, with the same bail terms as before.
