Contracts have been signed for an €8 million upgrade of Strokestown town centre. Work will start in the coming weeks on the major upgrade of the north Roscommon town. It will include landscaping, street furniture, pedestrian crossings and a new car-parking layout. Local Independent councillor Tom Crosby says the deal was finalised this morning:
Some businesses in Strokestown expressed concern about the project - fearing it would result in the loss of car-parking in the town. But Councillor Crosby says he supports it:
