Concerns raised over low level of coercive control prosecutions

There have been only two convictions since the law was introduced.

People in only five counties have faced prosecution for coercive control in nearly three years.

The DPP has decided to bring 21 people to court since the law was introduced in 2019 - they're in counties Dublin, Donegal, Meath, Monaghan and Offaly.

Coercive control is psychological abuse and falls under the Domestic Violence Act.
