A number of serious concerns were raised at a public meeting last night regarding a proposed wind farm in south Roscommon. EDF Renewables have applied Roscommon County Council to construct four turbines at Carrowkeel near Rahara. The structures will be among the biggest in the country with a blade tip height of over 180 metres.
Local residents say the Carrowkeel Wind Farm would affect Rahara, Curraghboy, Four Roads and surrounding townlands as well as Lough Funshinagh. They gathered in Rahara National School to discuss ways in which to oppose the development ahead of the submissions deadline in 10 days time.
