There's concern over the growing number of people on trolleys at hospitals serving the Shannonside region. Figures from the INMO show Sligo University Hospital was second nationally- going from 466 to 885. Numbers were also up at Mullingar and Portiuncula hospitals.
Local Cllr Ita Reynolds is a member of the HSE regional health forum west. She says the overcrowding is an all too common occurrence:
