A popular Longford Hotel has reopened its doors this week following it's official closure five years ago. The Newcastle House Hotel on the outskirts of Ballymahon closed to the public in 2020 due to Covid 19 and reopened to host Ukrainian refugees following Russia's invasion of the country. The family run business added new staff ahead of the opening along with a number of upgrades to existing amenities.
The house is a 300-year-old manor house and is located on the banks of the River Inny near Ballymahon. Councillor Pat O'Toole lives close by and believes that the reopening will greatly benefit local tourism:
