Councillor Mark Casey is to be elected as the Cathaoirleach of the Ballymahon Municipal District today. The Independent will replace Fine Gael's Martin Skelly in the role. Cllr Casey was first elected to the local authority in the 2009 local elections.
He'll hold the role for one year and be paid an allowance of over €3,000. Cllr Casey has outlined his priorities for the year ahead:
