Changes needed in Ireland's judicial system says Longford Senator

The Longford Senator says new measures need to be brought in to ensure that victims see justice is done.

A Longford based Senator has called for changes in Ireland's Judicial system.

Senator Micheál Carrigy criticised what he calls 'lenient punishments in the courts system' following the sentencing of David Larkin for the harassment of Waterford TD and Junior Minister Mary Butler.

Mr Larkin pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a three month suspended sentence for the communications to the Junior Health Minister at Longford District Court this week.

The Longford resident was also sentenced to a five month suspended prison sentence before Christmas for the harassment of Senator Carrigy during the same period.
