Gardai in Castlerea are warning people to be wary of a new phone scam which has been reported in recent days.
The calls, which are made to landline users, claim that the person is an Amazon Premium customer and are then directed to speak to an operator.
They are then informed that they owe a sum of money for a delivery to their address or their account is in arrears, and an attempt is made to extract banking or personal details.

Gardaí are urging anyone who receives a call like this to hang up immediately and never to disclose any personal banking details.
