Call for derelict Granard building to be used as county museum

Councillor McGovern Believes the project would be another step in rejuvenating Granard.

A Longford councillor is calling for a derelict Granard building to be transformed into a county museum.

Turlough McGovern has urged the council to conduct a viability study on the former Matthews site in the north Longford Town.

He believes the building should be looked at under Rural Development funding with a view towards purchasing it and transforming it to an exhibition and gallery centre.
