A local councillor says a change in the law is needed in order to tackle illegal dumping.
Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice says there must be tougher financial penalties for those caught in the act.
It was revealed this week that less than a quarter of fines were paid on time in Roscommon last year.
Roscommon County Council issued 60 such fines under the Litter Pollution Act in 2025.
But only 14 were paid within the specified three-week time limit.
