The 30th annual Maria Edgeworth Festival was officially launched by the British Ambassador yesterday in Longford.
Her Excellency Kara Owen presided over the opening ceremony ahead of a busy weekend of events.
The festival has welcomed visitors from across the globe to Edgeworthstown over the past three decades.
It showcases writers and artists of international acclaim as well as local artists.
