The body of a man found dead outside his home in county Leitrim is to be exhumed as part of a fresh investigation into his death.
RTÉ are reporting Gardaí have obtained permission to exhume the remains of Liam Farrell so that a second post-mortem examination can be carried out.
Mr Farrell was discovered outside his house in Rooskey in 2020 and an initial examination concluded that he died from natural causes.
His family have consistently questioned that finding and have sought a new forensic review of the case.
The exhumation is expected to allow investigators to re-examine the cause of death using updated forensic analysis.
Gardaí say the move forms part of ongoing efforts to clarify the circumstances surrounding Mr Farrell’s death.
